Individual Leadership Coaching

Confidential, evidence-based coaching to help you lead with greater clarity, confidence, and impact — at every stage of your career.

What is leadership coaching?

Leadership coaching is a structured, confidential partnership between a trained coach and a leader. Unlike training or mentoring, coaching does not provide answers — it creates the space, challenge, and support for you to develop your own insight, strategies, and solutions.

Through powerful questions, deep listening, and proven psychological frameworks, your Ascent coach helps you gain clarity on what is holding you back, build the skills and behaviours that drive effectiveness, and create the momentum to perform at your highest level — sustainably.

"Coaching is unlocking a person's potential to maximise their own performance. It is helping them to learn rather than teaching them."
— Timothy Gallwey, The Inner Game of Work

Ascent coaches are accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) or the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC), ensuring the highest professional and ethical standards throughout your coaching relationship.

Who works with Ascent Leadership coaches

Our individual coaching programmes are designed for leaders at three distinct career stages. Which resonates most with where you are now?

New Managers

Stepping into your first leadership role is one of the most significant career transitions you will make. Many new managers feel ill-equipped, isolated, and unsure how to shift from doing to leading. We help you hit the ground running with confidence.

  • Managing former peers and difficult conversations
  • Building credibility and authority quickly
  • Delegation, prioritisation, and time management
  • Developing your personal leadership identity
  • Managing upwards and influencing stakeholders

Senior Leaders

At the senior level, technical expertise matters less — how you lead, communicate, and inspire others matters more. Senior leaders often face increased complexity, political dynamics, and pressure to deliver strategic change. We help you navigate all of this.

  • Leading through ambiguity and complexity
  • Board-level communication and influence
  • Building and sustaining high-performing teams
  • Strategic thinking and long-term focus
  • Burnout prevention and sustainable performance

C-Suite Executives

At the very top, the stakes are highest and the honest feedback is rarest. CEOs, CFOs, and other C-suite leaders benefit enormously from a trusted confidential thinking partner who challenges them rigorously and supports them unconditionally.

  • CEO transition and first-year effectiveness
  • Legacy, purpose, and meaning in leadership
  • Board relationships and governance
  • Succession planning and talent development
  • Navigating organisational crisis and change

The Ascent Coaching Process

Our five-stage methodology is built on robust coaching science and refined through hundreds of successful coaching engagements. Here is what you can expect.

Stage One

Assessment

We begin with a comprehensive assessment phase lasting two to three weeks. This includes an in-depth intake conversation to explore your background, context, and aspirations; psychometric profiling (such as Hogan Assessments or Myers-Briggs); and, where appropriate, a structured 360-degree feedback process to gather perspectives from managers, peers, and direct reports. This gives us a rich, data-driven picture of your current leadership profile.

Stage Two

Goal Setting

Using the insights from assessment, we work collaboratively with you — and your line manager or HR partner where relevant — to define two to four clear, measurable coaching goals. These goals anchor the entire programme and ensure your investment translates into tangible outcomes. We also agree how progress will be measured throughout the engagement, so you always know where you stand.

Stage Three

Coaching Sessions

The core of the programme: regular one-to-one sessions with your dedicated Ascent coach. Sessions are 90 minutes and typically held every two to three weeks. Each session blends exploration, reflection, challenge, and practical planning. Your coach brings deep expertise, evidence-based tools, and an unwavering commitment to your growth. All sessions are strictly confidential.

Stage Four

Action Plans

Real development happens between sessions. After each coaching conversation, you leave with a clear personal action plan — specific commitments to try, explore, or practise before you meet again. Your coach provides brief asynchronous support by email between sessions to help you stay on track, reflect on what is working, and adjust your approach in real time.

Stage Five

Review & Consolidation

At programme close, we conduct a thorough review of your progress against original goals, incorporating self-assessment, stakeholder feedback where applicable, and coach observations. We celebrate what you have achieved, identify areas for continued focus, and co-create a personal development plan to sustain your momentum beyond the formal coaching relationship. A final written report is provided.

An evidence-based approach grounded in proven frameworks

Ascent coaches draw on a rich and rigorous toolkit developed from decades of coaching research, leadership psychology, and organisational behaviour science. We are eclectic by design — selecting the approaches most appropriate for your unique situation rather than applying a single rigid model.

Our methodology integrates insights from adult development theory, positive psychology, cognitive behavioural coaching, systems thinking, and somatic awareness. We also draw on practical frameworks from some of the world's leading business schools and coaching institutions.

Above all, we believe that the quality of the coaching relationship — built on trust, challenge, and genuine care — is the single most powerful ingredient in successful coaching.

Designed for depth, not just discussion

Many leaders have back-to-back meetings and precious little time to think. A coaching session is fundamentally different — it is protected time dedicated entirely to your growth, reflection, and development.

Your coach comes prepared, having reviewed notes and action plans from previous sessions. You are encouraged to bring real, current challenges — the more honest and specific you are, the more valuable the coaching will be.

Sessions can be held in our London offices, at your workplace, in a neutral location, or via secure video conferencing — whatever environment allows you to be most open and focused.

Strict Confidentiality

Everything discussed remains strictly confidential. We never share session content with your employer without your explicit consent.

Your Agenda, Always

Coaching is led by your goals, not a predetermined curriculum. The session goes where you need it to go.

Challenge with Care

Great coaching requires both warmth and rigour. We will support you fully while also challenging you to grow beyond your comfort zone.

Progress Tracking

We track your progress systematically throughout the engagement so you always have a clear sense of how far you have come.
